A whole year has passed and its now been 12 months since I started writing my food blog. I’m not sure really what made me start writing a blog. Was it desperation, something new and excited an escape even? Or was it my love of food, passion for cookbooks or my longing desire for sweet treats. I think a mixture of all to be honest. But I just love it. I am very proud of my blog. I immerse myself into a whole other world. When I dabble with my blog, I’m no longer mummy, wife or whatever else I get called. I’m just me. Carmela. Mid 30’s in search of something new and exciting.  I am no computer whizz and it has taken me an age to work the whole thing out, but I got there in the end. I still have loads of modifications to make with a little help from my friends hopefully.

Since my first blog post ‘Park, Pastina and Prawns’, my writing has improved so much (I hope). I have posted nearly 170 food and drink posts and take lots of pictures too. Now photograph, I’m sure you know it is not my strong point, I would even say I’m rubbish at it, but with my new camera I am trying at least!! However saying that I have improved in 12 months. I try to stage my food a little more and pretty it up so it looks more appealing.

My latest giant challenge it to cook through ‘The Silver Spoon’, cookery book. It is huge, I adore it. I want to try and cook some recipes that I would not normally fancy trying. Also I enjoy learning new techniques, maybe I may even have a go at butchery!!

Regular readers will also know that as well as writing my blog, attempting to write a book, working and looking after my family of four fabulous children, I also work alongside BBC Radio Northampton Kitchen Garden show. I contribute to the kitchen hour and absolutely love it. This I will say has been the highlight to my first foodie year.  Meeting new foodie folk, traders and other members of the radio team is my idea of a perfect job. To have a passion for food and be able to discus it weekly on Kevin’s show is my idea of bliss.

Not forgetting another plus to this whole radio thingy, is my love of cookbooks. I can now pass off this huge obsession to my husband as ‘I am researching’, I NEED this new book, it is an essential’!! The good thing is it seems to be working at to moment too.

My blog seems to be leading me where I want to go, even though I’m not sure where that it yet. September will lead my little girl Chiara to school. That’s it then all my precious children will be at school. No more playgroup drop offs and pick ups at different times. I may actually be able to make a dent into this cookery book that I obsess over writing and am not really getting the time to do it.

Finally thank you to all my family, friend and bloggers who have given me the incentive to go forward, who knows where next year will take me!! Please share my blog and all comments are welcome at any time.
So to finish off. Happy 1st Birthday to ‘Carmelaskitchen.blogspot.com’, you have given me something a little special this year to focus on and actually become me again………..

Thank you

Carmela x
