Here is a simple little post! I like most folk and children just love British seasonal fruit. A strawberry tastes like a strawberry, a cherry tastes sweet like a cherry should. Each bite you take oozes out juice. They are moreish and without a doubt cherries, strawberries, blackberries and raspberries, must be taken advantage of whilst in season. Buy fresh and freeze, seasonal fruit through the autumn, perfect!

We have overdosed a little with cherries at the moment so I have made cherry jam, a cherry bakewell cake for the Hackleton school graduation, so now a little adult alcoholic enjoyment.

My drunken cherries. Steeped in very good quality brandy. The brandy will take on the taste of the cherries and just be simply amazing. I am going to try and keep this cherry brandy for my Christmas pudding and Christmas cake this year!!

400g cherries
225 g granulated sugar
bottle of brandy 70cl
large sterilised jar with a clip down lid

1. Wash the cherries and leave in the pips and stalks.
2. Place in the sterilised jar and pour in the brandy.
3. Pour in the sugar and shake, shake and shake a little more!!

Wait for all the sugar to dissolve, just keep shaking.
Shake the jar every 2 days. Allow the cherries to steep into the brandy for at least 4 weeks.
Then enjoy both the cherries and brandy. Eat and drink responsibly! Once opened pop into the fridge.
