The sun was shining bright for the first time in what felt like weeks. Today was without a doubt a perfect day to mooch about a food market with Natalia. We set off early together, Natalia had her rucksack in tow, full of water and snacks. It was an adventure we were absolutely ready for.

As we drove into the beautiful town of Oundle, it was buzzing with the busy sound of hussle and bussle. It was fabulous and the sun really did help, everyone seemed to be smiling.

There was a variation of stalls from fresh vegetables, sausages, jams and jellies to spices, herb plants and also old school puddings. I met some fabulous trades people. Some were local and others from just over the Northamptonshire boarder.

Figs from Spain, I had to have one………………..!!

Italian food from the region of Puglia in ‘La Bella Italia’

Fresh and so delicious……..Cheese…..

Peppery radish……….

Mark from Gourmet Spices…………..
Purple basilico………
I could not stop myself. Natalia and I tried more or less everything that was on offer. From fudge, bread, sausages, olive oils, fruit, strawberries and also fresh herbs. We found ourselves munching on purple basil. It was fabulous and think that I will have a go at making purple basil pesto. I introduced Natalia to dipping bread into olive oil and balsamic vinegar. She is now addicted just like her mum!! I came home with an array of dried herb rubs from Mark (Gourmet Spices), as well as bread rolls, four figs, three purple basil plants, fig balsamic vinegar an artichoke and fresh bottle of apple juice.

Natalia munching some rosemary bread!

These tomato’s simply inspire a salad..

Locally made apple juice, just up the road from me.

Our next local show in Northamptonshire will be Holdenby House Food show, so come along on August bank holiday Monday. See you then.
