Just like a full bodied fine well matured wine, Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is a product of soil, climate and olive variety, and is evaluated using careful tasting and quality control procedures. In Italy there are around 500 olive varieties currently grown. Sicily – Monti Iblei PDO
La bella Sicilia is the largest island in the Mediterranean. Olive trees are perfectly suited to the climate, and calcium rich soils. Produced in the Monti Iblei area of Sicily and made using Tonda Iblea olives, this golden green Extra Virgin Olive Oil is fruity with an intense full bodied flavour with notes of tomato fresh herbs.
Suggested Uses: Excellent with salads fish and seafood. Perfect with white meat and boiled or grilled vegetables, delicious on fresh Pecorino or salted ricotta.
Tuscany – Toscano PGI
La Toscana is Protected to the north by the Maritime Alps and to the east by the Apennines, Tuscany is known throughout the World for its olive oil. The colour is more amber in tone and has a balance of both sharp sweetness with a peppery finish. The aroma has notes of artichokes and almonds.
Suggested Uses- Excellent with soups and salads such as Tuscan Ribollita soup and panzanella salad.
Puglia – Dauno PDO
Puglia is the heel of Italy and has the longest most delicious coast line. Rugged terrain , hot, dry climate and soil in essence lead to amazing olive oil. Puglia has a rich food culture that combines quality ingredients and unique flavours, married to create delicious and colourful recipes. Olive oil in Puglia is called and known as ‘Gold of Puglia’, it is said to be as ancient and precious as the land itself.
