A few words, to let you in on my new Sunday (10-11am) ‘BBC Radio Kitchen Garden Show’ that I now contribute to every other week. I absolutley love it. I have contributed to the last four shows back to back, and have really given it my all. I have the freedom to come up with my own ideas, suggestions and themes, as long as I run them past the editor before I begin my planning.

There are so many ideas bouncing around in my head, it’s just like a game of tennis, but the rally hasn’t stopped. I am still so excited about the opportunity that I am still waking in the night with ideas and themes and jot them down. I was so nervous on my first week. I could not sleep or eat, and to be honest I was a nightmare to live with or so I was told. But as soon as I walked into the new BBC studio, Kevin the broadcaster just ozzed calm. He is wonderful. The producer, Ally just ties everything in so neatly, and I generally sit there and talk about all things foodie and obviously eat. That’s what I do best!!

I am reading more cookery books than ever, and also buying more too. At least I can now say my cookery book collection is now essential for research. Whoop whoop. Google has become my best friend as well as trying to use twitter more. I do need to become more aware of the social netwroking sites as that is where I will be able to meet more like minded and interesting people that will give the show its dinamic interest that is needed.

I like to keep all guests and food producers within the Northamptonshire boarders if possible, local people with a story, local food. I find that by having a local show, then the listeners will call in. All food events that are local will be mentioned. From the Oundle food festival to the Holdenby House show.

Food allergies or illness are looked into and I research new recipes for listeners to try. I will keep all show weeks related to the season. What food is in season, and what recipes can I muster up. I love also hearing feedback, questions even answers from the listeners. We are here to provide a service for all our listeners. I work very hard to ensure there is a good amount of content in each show.

Mary Jane Brown, is an angel too. She comes over to my kitchen and prepares our pre-recordings for the next weeks show, along with her giant microphone!! We have great fun recording. Then have the enjoyment of eating the perks.

So my final point is, if there is any question that you would like answering, if you have a query on a recipe or a strange vegetable that you do not  know what to do with, please call BBC Radio Northampton on 01604 234455 at 10am on a Sunday.

If there is a particular topic that you would like covered please comment below. I hope that you have been enjoying the shows and get ready for my taste test on recipes (takeaways) and also panels will be taste testing branded products, from chocolate through to tea!! It will be a great eye opener I’m sure.

So please listen into this Sunday’s Dairy Free show, my guest is a mother, Sue who has a child with a dairy allergy and we will be talking also to Mable our nutritionist and Charlotte from Go Free Food.
