Pasta making community event….
Well how much fun did we have making pasta yesterday evening!! I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The turn out was amazing from both friends new and old. In total I taught 70ish wonderful ladies and gents the art of making simple pasta. From a simple egg pasta dough to pressed herb pasta and farfalle, spaghetti and tagliatelle. I worked directly onto my wooden board and taught the students the traditional way by using our hands, fingers and palms. Engaging with our food.
Turning out a simple delicious inexpensive and very quick pasta dish in minutes. Back to basics was my mantra on this course. Italian food is simple, fresh and seasonal. As long as you have Italian flour 00, large eggs and salt you can make pasta. The sauces vary completely from a simple and fresh Carbonara sauce to a rich tomato based sauce. Fresh herbs really became key, they add texture, fragrance and an amazing flavour to pasta.
Along with my teaching we were very lucky to have some local food supplies and producers with us to in a small food market. They included Julie from Angelina Cupcake to Mark from Gourmet Spice, Adriana from The Italian Shop, Sarah from Whites Delights and Johnathan from The Orchard. Fabulous local food and  local supplies. Supporting local businesses was also key at this event, buy local and know what your buying!!
It was an absolutely fabulous evening with lots of vino flowing, nibbles and chitter chatter, laughing and giggling. Lots of new friends were made and fabulous raffle prize’s won too.
I’m now looking forward to the next evenings leading through the year, from Summer pudding making to basic Italian sauces and antipasti demonstrations not forgetting the festive extravaganza Christmas Pudding club is back late November too.
Here are some wonderful photos take by Richard from Family First Photography based in Northampton. Enjoy.
