A gift swap in Fortnum and Mason, London, is my idea of heaven. Hosted by the lovely Vanessa Kimbell author of ‘Prepped’. Fifty food bloggers were invited along with fabulous judges, Lucas Hollweg author of Good things to eat and Chantal Coady owner of the wonderful Rococo Chocolates, London.
The idea of this gift swap was to shout about ‘Fairtrade’ from the rooftops. The importance of fairtrade and the benefits that it brings to farmers, families and communities. This is not just a badge on a product, or a sticker on a bunch of bananas, it really does make an incredible difference. Vanessa has highlighted to us in the foodie blogging community about the importance of fairtrade (Ndali vanilla from Uganda). Vanessa’s visit to Uganda has completely changed her opinion of Fairtrade and hence the reason for this fairtrade event.
All the baked items contained this delicious spice, of Ndali vanilla. From cakes, cupcakes, sweets, biscuits and preserves. There was a huge array of treats from so many talented food bloggers. The treats were judged and Kenwood provided wonderful stand mixers and hand mixers and Fortnum and Mason donated two beautiful wicker hampers full of goodies.
A wonderful event. I was able to put names to faces and left with delicious treats as well as new friends too. I look forward to the next gift swap at Christmas (fingers crossed). Here below are a few pictures from the Ndali fairtrade event. Enjoy.
