I have secretly been working on my Italian cookery book for a while on and off , and have been waiting for news on a possible publisher………Tick tock, tick tock……….. Bada Bing, you have mail, I read the following with my eyes partially closed, ‘Carmela I would like to offer you a publishers book deal for your Italian cookery book’.
I cried with bottled up emotion. An explosion of feelings ,I was beside myself with excitement. Now to be published is a dream come true but with that dream comes allot of long days, late nights and hardwork. Teaching Italian cookery is my love and coming up with new recipe ideas. My true passion is Southern Italian cookery in the style of ‘Cucina Povera’. In Italy I have family from the North near Verona and as far south along the long coastline of beautiful un-spoilt Puglia.
In the region of Puglia the diet is as you can imagine, pasta, fresh fish, seafood and copious amounts of fresh vegetables and fruit. Simple, fresh, healthy and affordable. All are traits of Cucina Povera. Cooking within seasons and using up left overs, my family table style of cooking.
So this is it. My fingers will be going mad tapping away on my laptop for the next few months. Working towards my deadline with the anticipation and excitement of what will be published at the other end.
At the minute my working title is ‘An Italian Mothers Cookery Secrets’. This may change however my theme will run through the book with added chapter extras too. You will need imagination whilst reading my book as there will be no coloured photography, just amazing recipes with sketched drawings. The recipes will be deliciously descriptive and fool proof.
Hope fully the first book of many and due out October 2014……..Wow. Recipe testers get ready.
